Vacations not honored?

Oops, it's supposed to honor vacations. I fixed it.

"wow, load of babies, if it isn't ME WR with no fun settings you'll cry...

Someday learning to play another template might be beneficial"

Believe it or not Einstein, we've played the settings, it's how we know we don't like them.

Those of us complaining are not "sheltered". We're better at every setting combination than you are.

Thanks for reminding me that skill at Warlight supersedes manners.

Most things supersede manners.

http://sl4.org/crocker.html

Call a spade a spade, stop being afraid to have opinions, and be more concerned with being right than with being "nice" and you just might actually amount to something useful.

I think Beren phrased this season best:

[5:37:50 PM] Beren: I don't understand why you are all complaining
[5:38:10 PM] Beren: commanders and LD is a great combination for a seasonal
[5:38:35 PM] Beren: commanders encourages you never to surrender, since you never know if you'll get an opportunity for a lucky commander kill
[5:38:48 PM] Beren: and LD makes games drag on 10 turns too long as well
[5:39:01 PM] Beren: so every game will end with force surrenders!

Hmm I think that was a useful slap in the face. Begrudgingly there is little that can be objected about that statement. Thanks for the perspective.

Well said though my rule of nitpicking forces me to dissagree in at least one thing...
Most things supersede manners.

Probably we have a different understanding of manners :(
For more and more people having manners means following the rules of political correctness.
For me manners have always meant to say hi on the beggining of the game, to contain oneself and not to say "fuck you" after losing a won game...or apologising after farting in public.

Manners doesn't have to exclude sincerity...
And in your statement I detect contempt to your interlocutor.

P.S. Do you follow that Crocker's Rules?
You break the main rule of them: "they don't implement reciprocity".
You should still follow other people's expectations when you talk to them..

P.S.S.
I like the idea of the Crocker's Rules very much.

"P.S. Do you follow that Crocker's Rules?"

Absolutely. I am human, thus fallible, but I at least try to learn from all criticisms.

I don't say Hi, GLHF, etc. at he start of every game, but I have no issue with those that do.

I certainly will never apologize for farting though. It's a bodily function, if someone is offended by it, fuck them.

EDIT:
This is a very interesting things. Two questions come to my mind:
The manners - our communication protocol was invented for some reason. What was it? Was it usefull? Should we like that just get rid of it, what do we lose in this case?

And the second one: Shortaning the information causes loss of some data, where is the right limit of the length - where the information is still 100% clear but is the shortest possible.

That's not exactly right.

I can speak frankly to people regardless of how they may interpret it. That has nothing to do with Crocker's rules, it has to do with being an opinionated human being exercising my freedom to speak my mind. Delivery is on me, interpretation on them.

I expect people to interpret criticisms correctly, it doesn't mean they have to, but should they not do so it's only harming them and is really not my concern. I can lead a horse to water, it is not my burden to force it to drink.

I don't go out of my way to insult people, that's just being an asshole - I merely rarely go out of my way to not insult someone.

ie. Big difference between playing someone and after the game saying:

Turn 6 was bad, you misplayed terribly, you did this when you should have done that instead.

and responding by saying: You're a terrible player and you should be ashamed to play like that. You are a disgrace to the human race.

The former is blunt, and arguably rude, but also constructive should they be capable of interpreting it as such, the latter is not.

I mostly agree anyway :p
And admire using thouse rules.

The last reservation:
We're better at every setting combination than you are.

This one I understand - proving that you know better what you are saying, that you know the template.

But this:
Believe it or not Einstein, we've ...

What for did you put Einstein there, what information would your statement lose by discounting that?

EDIT:
Also from my above post:

If you are going to have shit settings at least choose a different map, since season 18 or 19 its been a map which is not ME/MME twice. People make great maps for this game and yet you never seem to use them for seasonal.

I completed a practice game on this with my other account.

https://www.warlight.net/MultiPlayer?GameID=11760940

First of all, thx Viral for doing the game as I don't have membership on my accounts. I am worried that this template will be easy to stall on. The guy I played against did not stall but he could had stall for a long time if he would have wanted. I don't necessarly think it is a bad template as it is very different from what I usually play. My main concern is really about how much easy it is to stall on this.

Man, why do seasonal templates tend to get worse and worse?... Almost nobody likes LD, same for commanders.

and now season combines both of it? like hell...
