This thread is ridiculous! Fizzer owns the site and we are guests. So the whole thing depends on domiciliary rights. Fizzer makes a decision and you can agree due to the standard form contracts or not, which means you are free to leave. simply do or die!

If you live somewhere with a over a million people, like most countries are, then you're fine. It's only people from microstates that should be concerned.

Concerned about what?!?
The flag of the country you are in?
The fact that it shows on your profile?
What are you, toddlers? ( If by any chance you are, then keep on posting, I understand you have no grip on reality :D )

Go waste your life with something worth wasting.

Incaman, that is rude. You should respect others for their privacy needs, every country is different. Have you heard of the NSA in the United States? Probably a lot different than Macedonian government spying

Just you know ... to show you that other toddlers who achieved quite a bit more than you share concerns on personal information being shared without consent.

And that's just two I picked out.

Hahahaha, the debates here are quite interesting :D

The privacy, terror and violation of human rights is FAR WORSE in Macedonia, than you could ever imagine it could be in USA trust me.

Anyway, I'm all for conserving privacy on the net and everywhere, don't get me wrong, but I don't consider the flag of my country a violation of that privacy. This is a free and private site it chooses the information it will display, if you have a problem with that don't join the site. Every application you ever installed on your mobile and PC (or whatever you are using) is collecting your information and some even sharing it. Your very governments are spying on you without consent. The fucking (excuse my language but this is the only adjective i will ever use for global corporations ) corporations are spying on you without consent. So if you want to fight the sharing of personal information without consent this is not the place to do it.

;)

Then again I don't use my real name here ... so it's not quite the same.

what about guys like me who use their real names and pics? giving away my supposed country of origin is a direct threat to my privacy

Well if the invasion of privacy is far worse in your country then you of all people should understand that not everyone wants to be known. Imagine if for Macedonia, the creators showed which region you are in at that specific moment? That is what they do for the USA and I imagine it will spread to Canadian provinces next and etc

whoever cares so much about privacy should be anonymizing their connection. look up tor and use it.

that being said: i would also like an option to hide my flag or correct my nationality when it's wrong.

if you really want to change it, simply use Hola (chrome exstention) and pick the country you want it to show. It is free and works.

@ Hennns - yes it does work, tried it for a while, but it's slow to load, locks you into using chrome and stops you using the app

@ Ps I do use Tor, but it doesn't support flash as you probably well know so no use here.

@ Inca As I have already joined the site, and paid membership "Not joining the site is slightly difficult no?

Also I agree with the rest of your comment except: "So if you want to fight the sharing of personal information without consent this is not the place to do it."

I don't agree with this, if any fight is worth fighting, you fight it everywhere, yes you can fight in a place where you're victory means more but only speaking up when something is at the point where you think it is a serious problem to you reminds me of Niemöller:

"First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."

If you see something as being the first step towards an even worse situation later, you speak up. Even before it's a problem for you, if we don't defend the rights of others who will speak for us?

I'll admit this isn't a major issue for me - my earlier posts - Pink quoted one shows that. But choice over personal information is important and when people come on and spout childish taunts in lieu of having a reasonable opinion ... yeah it makes me want to reply.

(Edit: Also - why should workarounds be a substitute for choice?)

Displaying IP location is not in any way illegal so long as the IP address itself is not publicly exposed.

Also, just use eliteproxyswitcher, that's how I have a German IP even though I speak fluent English. I'm actually from Hong Kong, where the search term democracy-porn is blocked. Germany practically invented the term (demokratische Pornografie). I wanted to use a Ghanese IP, but there's only like two and they're both being used at the moment.

You must be kidding Ska. Do you really compare the flags within warlight with the holocaust? Have you ever heard about proportionality? or are you just the dumbest idiot on planet earth? and dont get me wrong these are serious questions no offending facts! just tell me that you dont trivialize the genocide on millions of people, in that pathetic way!

Wow lateral thinking is really not your strong point is it?

Tell me, when someone uses a metaphor around you does that cause your head to ache?

"He was a treacherous snake" ... you over hear this and start looking for snakes? Then rage at the speaker because there were in fact no snakes?

If you read what I said you will find no mention of the holocaust, what you will read is an example of not saying that you think something shouldn't be happening because at that point it doesn't really bother you. Because things progress and at some point they will concern you.

"I don't agree with this, if any fight is worth fighting, you fight it everywhere, yes you can fight in a place where you're victory means more but only speaking up when something is at the point where you think it is a serious problem to you reminds me of Niemöller:"

^^ So you read that and thought this guy has learned from Niemöller that at any point you should be prepared to be a minority and stand out, and say what you think even when you could be quiet and wait for it to be a problem for you. ... And you got from that that I'm an idiot? That I trivialize? Really?

first of all this is a quote, describing the situation of fear in germany during the deportation of the intellectuals, political opponents and jews. It includes subjects like socialists, trade unionists and jews. do you really want to compare a system of abduction and murder that paralyzed the people with fear with the flags in warlight, which might harm your weird sense of privacy? You are right this is a metaphor, but with a certain meaning and you absolutely failed to use it in a proper way. and as you use it on purpose, more or less seriously, it is extremely offending and absolutely poor.

I really worry for you.

By the way I don't really worry for you ... I know after reading that first sentence you are sitting there thinking I am. It's a rhetorical device what it really means is I think you fail to understand rhetorical devices, so I think your intellect is not the best.

But I say I really worry for you. It's shorter and it means the same thing, most people can make that connection and understand it, I explained it for you, because you seem to think that using any kind of metaphor or illustrative situation means you are 100% comparing that situation to this.

Wouldn't that make language difficult? If we couldn't say things like "Oh that painting reminds me of Monet's impressionism - it really captures the moment" ... because someone like Ranek would pipe up and shout at us ... "MONET is DEAD he LIVED 100 YEARS AGO HOW CAN IT BE SIMIILAR!?"

You cannot have read the full conversation, otherwise you could not be this obtuse, Incaman said

"So if you want to fight the sharing of personal information without consent this is not the place to do it. "

And I said I disagree and that if you were going to fight any battle you should be prepared to fight it everywhere as Niemöller shows us [quoted Niemöller].

If I see an element of something in one thing I can compare it to another thing. I can. Get over it.

It doesn't mean I am saying it is exactly the same, it means I see an element that is similar, this is called nuance, you obviously don't understand it.
