|Land of Numerical Armies was created to get my feet wet in the art of Warlight map making and to experiment with a layout of multiple strongholds. Abandon and Blockade cards perform nicely here.
Feedback is appreciated, especially regarding the balance of play.
v1.1 - Fixed neutral territories intended for bonuses
Review by Aenye Deithven on 7/7/2013.
Nice map for a quick playthrough. Good overall balance, making the game interesting even though the bonuses are vastly overpowered. I understand that this may have been done to speed up gameplay, focusing more on PvP or PvE. Even so, halving the bonuses would provide the same focus, while making the playthrough more interesting. "Dictionary-based" province names are bearable, but if you have 'kingdoms', one would expect 'proper' names. All in all, an entertaining map with quite the potential, but needs more love on the author's part to remove the 'unfinished' feeling it gives off. 4/5
PS: If this is actually your first map, then it would be one of the best starts I have ever seen. Congratulations !

Thanks for the feedback. This is indeed my first map. More are in the works but it's slow going. I've been expecting to get dinged on the naming! I enjoyed making the map but wasn't really keen on inventing a bunch of names. Initially I wasn't sure if this was a big deal but it's been pointed out a few times now so I'll consider a change. I agree with your thoughts on game-play speed so I'm also strongly considering lowering the bonuses.

Nice map, with a lot of interesting gameplay, alone or in 2v2 team.
A bit unbalanced if you start in the South Kingdom, where you can't expand as fast as in the other areas (thus giving quickly an advantage to your ennemies), but it is not as bad as it may sounds.

I find this to be outstanding. Strategy possibilities are numerous :)

Upon sufficient replay, I'm upranking this map to 5 stars. It really is terrific fun.

I didn't think I would find this map so entertaining. It's really fun to fight in the cities. I spotted a missing connection between keenly and karma.

Needs actual names, rather than mere placeholders.

Pretty good, but the lack of distributions and synthetic names leaves it just short of 5 stars
great map though

Good mix of small and large bonuses. Would be a little better if the dead ends were removed or less valuable.

An excellent map in terms of gameplay and strategy. There are a huge number of armies on offer, which can result in large scale battles, although as soon as one player is dominating, it is difficult to come back. It is a good map for finding a secure corner and hunkering down; however, the boats and large number of territories mean that all players are likely to have some battle on their hands at some front, especially with a large number of players.
I thoroughly enjoyed playing on this map, and highly recommend it for others.

The territory of Cable shares a border with the territory of Cabinet, but it is not possible to attack/transfer between these two territories.
I really enjoyed playing this map and this is definitely going on my favourites list. It is a fictional map that feels like a real world map, which highly contributes to the immersiveness of the map.

Very fun when played with 4 people, you can have each person start in their own corner of the map with the big circular fortress...city...things as their first territory. But be wary don't play this map with 3 people because whoever gets the southern city is bound to win (The territory size is what causes this). So if you do end up playing with 3 people then try and stop the southern player from getting all the territories because otherwise he will most likely become unstoppable.

Wonderful map, and the territory names make for hilarious orders/history.
Only downsides are the numerous chokepoints and neutral connections: these are such a no-brainer for defense, blockades, and so on. For example, the entire Outskirts region can be defended with just two territories, both of which are not part of any bonus. That's not terribly strategically interesting!
The "round" territories are a fun twist, especially for multi-attack games and reconnaissance cards.

not half bad

Fun map, particularly for FFA. the balancing is pretty fair, the choke points are plenty and it plays pretty fast. There are some slight balancing issues of city areas having an advantage vs the open bits, but those are mostly mitigated by the inherent chaos of FFA.
Review by Matt on 4/26/2015.
this map was interesting to play, very good. loved the chock points ect. took a few times to win. seems like armies build up fast on both sides, high number battles.

High Numbers, Much Fun, Best Played when Pure Skill is ON
Review by jecowa on 3/29/2016.
It's a fun map, and all the connections of its territories make sense. The boats are a little confusing, though. It looks sort of like you might be able to jump from one boat to any of the other boats. Also, some of the regions are kind of hard to distinguish from each other around the south country and outskirts regions. I like the naming scheme of the territories with all the territories of a region starting with the same letter of the alphabet. I like the fortresses; I wish they had been given more creative names, though. Maybe something like Ft. Notterd, Ft. Sutton, and Fort Oria. Same with the island. Why not a "Croc Island" or something instead of just "Island"?

My roll on this map in a 3v3v3v3 game was defensive for the most part. Perhaps this map was not well suited for so many players. I'll play it again for sure. Thanks for the effort in making this map.
