Was going to post this in the other thread, but I think it's more worthwhile here. Just a simple visualization of the impact of the ruling. Left column set is the current situation (per the main spreadsheet) right now, after the ruling. Right column set is the situation if Rule 7 had been invoked and the minimum Rule 7 penalty had been assessed for the games affected.

EDIT: Ox pointed out that there'd be an even difference if the M'Hunter GL 3v3 team had its ongoing games not only declared as losses (minimum Rule 7 penalty) but also had their opponents awarded wins. Oh, and if the finished games were also not just deducted but had their results reversed- that'd directly affect points/max points for the other clans too. Here's how that would look:

Yeah looks like Ven has no way out unless he's somehow got a massive stack.

@Chatul, I saw that game won by Aldehyde like a week ago and yet it still hasn't finished?

To be clear Knyte ... and everyone else... I myself, and I believe most of the VS clan would not want to win Division C on a technicality. This is really not the same issue as the other ladder cheating issue. Not even close. I am happy with the ruling as I personally believe there really was no ill will here and they weren't doing it to get some advantage over other teams. We are playing a game where we all just want to have fun. Now lets drop it already. Decisions made, move on.

Back to trying to beat MH straight up!!

And as an aside, how do you have VS 3 points behind MH? 102 - 97 = 5 last I checked

@Darren that chart is out of date. Here is a quick update:

Hello

Miezekatze Hunters will win another tournament! Cats rule!

That would be a 5:0 for Aldehyde then. Can he get a MEOW?

I think WarLight is lacking some handicap feature. Other sports have something like that. How could we make a division interesting where the Miezekatze Hunters are participating in? knyte has already proposed a point handycap, however I prefer creative in game solutions:
- Aldehyde on French Brawl: Only give him an extra army for every 3 territories instead of 2.
- Chomeo on ME: Make him play with 16% weighted random while his opponents expand with 0% straight round.
- LTEmperor on Great Lakes: Let the opponents log into his account once and make his moves.

@Darren: Points Behind = ((difference in points won) - (difference in points lost))/2, just like Games Behind. It's a measure of how many points you'd have to outperform M'H by in your remaining uncontested points to beat them.

And right now it's even closer, with y'all just 1 point behind M'H.

Agree with you, though; ruling's made, no reason to worry about the issue anymore. Hopefully the burden-shifting trend continues and Rule 6 gets revised too, next season.

NOTE TO CLAN LEAGUE READERS:

Pages 6-7, 11-12, 15, 17-20, 25-30 pages of Division C need to be avoided as they contain little to no content that pertains to the topic of this thread: Clan League Season 8, Division C.

Week 6 Summary:

Another week, not a hell of a lot to talk about so I'll keep this short.

So the crawl continues. Only VS managed to finish more then 2 games in 1 week going (3-1). But a good week for VS? I think, even though this week only brought VS into contention of 1st place with M'Hunters which lost 1 game this week. Overall you can see now that VS could get 1st this season. M'Hunters did quite well in the 1v1s, but VS has already closed the gap with M'Hunters through the team games. Combine, 2v2s and 3v3s are the majority of points so VS can outpace M'Hunters. But, both are promoting regardless of 1st or 2nd place.

To my annoyance, BIA has wobbled up past Hydra! Pretty much every week Hydra and BIA have been swapping 3rd and 4th. I want one clan to pick a slot and stick with it! ;) So as the leader of Hydra I have a good ear for my clan, and I have been observing the BIA, Hydra race closely. And according to my assumptions of each clans lineup I am expecting a practical tie between the clans at this time. I'm expecting each clan to finish around (30-25) and with Hydra getting 109 points to BIA getting 108. Now if that is true, got clans have minimal room for error and this race for 3rd is going to take a long time to resolve.

CORP and LEA were here. CORP lost 2 games, LEA didn't finish any games. Moving along....

Predictions:

Because there is little else to talk about, I've decided to close out with each week with the race for perfection! Based on the current standings, no one predicted this race because no one put BIA in 3rd place. So wakanarai is still the most accurate, now with 4 out of 6 clans correct.

Wakanarai: VS, M'Hunters, Hydra, BIA, CORP, LEA

Great update!

The race between Hydra and BIA for 3rd is going to be intense. Every game matters.

Any news about how many clans will promote? It looks like there will be no merger of 101st and Lynx, but will be 101st still able to continue even after they lost so many players?

Chromeo, even with the merger I doubt that the 101st spot would have be taken out, we would've had more than required to field two CL rosters.

Now with that 101st-Outlaw schism, the question isn't on if the spot will be lost but who's keeping it. I guess we'll figure that out after the CL.

When I heard about the merger and some people's intentions to have two line-ups in CL for ostensibly one clan, I pointed out that a lot of clans would be against one clan taking up two spots in CL.

Hydra merger is why we have 6 teams, not 7 lol

That isn't the reason why. You know what, its time for a Clan League History lesson!

The Origins of Season 8 Division C:

At the end of Clan League Season 7, the results of the Divisions C, D1 and D2 were as follows:

So once Division A finished up, things seemed rather straight forward promotion and relegation wise. But then the clans started to drop like flies.
  • AHoL drops out of A, causing a chain reaction of clans promoting including 101st to B, and Yin Yang promotes as the highest ranked D1/D2 division clan.
  • Illuminati and AWF merge. Formally, the process involved ILLUMINATI letting Hydra replace it and AWF dropping out of Clan League. Division D shrinks by one clan allowing General Chous to compete in Division D instead of E.
  • BR, relegating into C, opening a new promotion spot in C and for Hydra to promote (AWF had dropped out and as the successor to ILLUMINATI formalized by CL management Hydra moves up).
  • ONE! replaces XS in B. No extra promotion spots open up.
  • Warlighters drops out of B, allowing Staghlwittern to promote B and for M'Hunters to promote C.
  • Lu Fredd suddenly drops out allowing CORP to promote.
  • General Chous is forced to drop out after an exodus of players.
  • Either Darklords was banned from competing in Season 8 or they dropped out. Either way, they don't matter.
  • Out of 14 clans that were supposed to divide into Divisions D and E, only 5 remain: Olympus, Poon Squad, Juggernauts, Hawks, Dutch Forever
  • MotD sets a deadline to submit a lineup, Yin Yang doesn't submit a roster is therefore excluded from CL. As this is last minute, no clan promote to replace them.

So Olympus could have promoted to Division but I really don't think they would have wanted it and would likely be at the bottom of the division with LEA relegating.

But to give a definitive answer to Ben's post, Division C has 6 clans because of Yin Yang not submitting a lineup.
