Update #9 - April 1st:

Clan League has finally finished. Congratulations to Blitz!

The only game that finished this week was the last game on Volcano Island, where Blitz beat ONE! to clinch a flawless victory. Here is the game for those interested: https://www.warlight.net/multiplayer?GameID=13051212

Blitz (1) destroy the competition, becoming the first clan in the history of CL to go completely undefeated. They super-promote to Division S, where they will remain the undisputed winners of CL for at least the next 27 seasons.

Turtles (2) finish modestly with 36 points, although all of their wins come from 1v1s and most of their points are from beating the scoreless idiots in 6th and 7th place.

French (3) have stayed at third place, narrowly beating Outlaws by a margin of 0.001 points. The only reason they are the only clan to have a non-whole number as their score is because Deadman and MotD were paid off to make French 3rd. French and Outlaws are essentially tied for 3rd place, but I can't argue with the crooked organizers. I don't even get paid to do this.

Outlaws (4) are divided about getting their podium finish stolen, with another half of their current members splitting off to form the "We Hate Clan League" clan. They are currently trying to get Outlaws' Division A spot.

ONE! (5) get ONE point, despite none of the CL formats being worth a point for a win (maybe a point for trying?). I guess they thought CL scoring was like golf, with the lowest score winning. Sadly, even if that were the case, they still are surpassed by further mediocrity.

Lynx(6) are absolutely pathetic. Almost all of their opponents got booted, and yet Lynx still failed to win a single game regardless. They should consider getting re-hijacked or dissolving immediately. Talentless morons.

MASTERs (7) live up to their expectations and go winless. Better luck next time. Maybe Deadman can rig that extra point for you guys like Beren did for ONE!

Once again, congratulations to Blitz for dominating Division A in CL9! I hope you guys do well in Division S next season. At least the other clans who managed to remain in Div A can get a breather from the pounding they got this season. Lynx and Masters super-relegate to Qualifiers for their abysmal performance.

Seriousness aside, here are some updates that I've made up.

Update #9.5 - April 2nd:

Slowly slowing down the slow pace of completed games.

3v3 -
  • Deadman's Rise of Rome:

    • Lynx continue their hot streak, defeating ONE! in two turns. Lynx have already completed half of the 6 games they have to play on RoR. Meanwhile, Masters, Turtles and Outlaws still haven't completed a single game. This game becomes ONE!'s second loss on RoR.

    Standings ~ Lynx: 3-0 / French: 1-1 / Blitz: 0-1 / ONE!: 0-2

  • Europe:

    • No games completed this week.

    Standings ~ MASTERs: 2-0 / Lynx: 1-0 / French: 1-1 / Turtles: 0-1 / Blitz: 0-2


2v2 -
  • China:

    • Lynx gets their first win on China, once again beating ONE!. Lynx becomes the last team to complete a game in China, and this is ONE!'s second completed game since their previous win almost 2 months ago.
    • French defeat Outlaws. This is French's first win on China, and Outlaws' second loss.

Masters (1) stay on top with no completed games this week.

Lynx (2) have bullied ONE! to gain an additional 9 points. They've eclipsed both Masters' and French's Total Points (TP) and now have the highest TP score at 32.

French (3) win a game to tie with Masters' TP at 26.

Turtles (4) have no completed games this week.

Outlaws (5) lose a game, but don't suffer as badly as ONE! this week and even move up a rank.

ONE! (6) lose two games this week and drop to 6th place.

Blitz (7) have no completed games this week.

Overall, Lynx does the best this week by contributing to both of ONE!'s losses. French are the only other clan to increase their TP score but are still very far from catching up to 2nd place.

Masters and Lynx making a very strong start , Looks to be a 2 clan division at this trend. It feels like a countdown for the Turtles to kick-start and win a lot of points! While the Outlaws/ONE/Blitz crowd fight to avoid relegation.

1v1s are going to dictate a lot , I don't think Masters and Lynx can't dominate​ to the same degree in teams. Atleast I think so!

This is regarding the format of next CL, but I dont think its worth to already open a new thread*:

I think its worth thinking about striking vacations and to give a 7 day bank.

The idea of vacations is to give players extra time when they need it, be it a real vacation, exams, workload.
A 7 day bank would accomplish the same while negating the event of someone taking 50 day vacations.

Another thought here would be to assess whether 6 substitutions were enough to manage lineups and whether these needsto be increased if vacations were not enabled.

Could also be an options for team games only.

I do see that problem as well, but u can't address it with only a 7 days banked boot time. If vacations aren't honored, than u need to create games with at least 14 days banked boot time, so u can afford to go to a vacation of 2 weeks. 7 days is just to short since people will likely have at least one longer vacations during the time of one CL season.

A general problem i have with a general banked boot is, that boots won't affect the competition that much as it should affect it. Playing your turns in 3 days shows a players willingness to play in the competition and i do think it's a certain skill to be disciplined enough not to get yourself booted in a 3-day boot game.

The only thing which is possible but can probably be only done manually is making a vacation limit of probably 3 vacations during one season. I don't know if it's possible to create an automatic counter for vacations, so i do think people have to ckeck the games to count all vacations of a player. If someone uses more than 3 vacations than it should be reported and the player/team gets an automatic loss in on going games and he/she needs to be replaced immediately for future games.

While I agree that people tend to overuse vacations, I don't think a 7 day bank can work due to the reasons outlined by Edge.

6 subs = 33% of your slots in A/B. all the Q groups have 8 subs = 44% of their slots.

Making subs is a manual process at the moment where one of us has to make actual changes in the sheet. If this is automated, I can see us increasing the sub limit. No one wants to see boots, but we also want to have some sort of order when it comes to lineups. If a clan starts with a line-up and finishes with a completely different line-up is that OK? I'd be interested to hear others' take on this.

I had actually implemented a vacation tracker which counts the number of days spent on vacation for each player. Our plan was to assign losses to anyone who had a game waiting on them if they exceeded their vacation limit(20 days in total?) People were not enthusiastic about it though, so we scrapped the idea.

It's great to hear, that you already have a potential system in place to use, so everybody can keep this in mind and depending on the length of this season u might ask the players after the season again, especially if the same problems keeps showing up.

That should be fine as long as all the players in the lineup are in the clan. Collectively, they represent the clan and so at the end, even if there are different members, it is still the same clan playing.

I wouldn't mind this either. But if something like this would be applied then it should also be clear that one has to be in the clan to play for them. So if someone decides to leave his clan or gets kicked out they should also be removed from the lineup. Take the champions league for example, if you leave your team you cannot play in the future matches anymore. You cannot participate for another team in the same champions league season. Same should be applied here. It would certainly discourage nonsense clan hopping.

I agree with you there. Organizing clan league is enough work as it is. If you could manage to make it an automated process or something where clan leaders can change it themselves would great.

I disagree with this. Its not always the fault of the player on vacation that a game takes long. I usually take my turns within a day but should i be punished for a 2 week vacation in a game where my opponents take 3 days every turn?

the most awesome solution would be to be able to change players in a already started game but I think thats impossible for now. Not even sure fizzer can do that. IF that would be possible i would say its not a bad idea to remove vacations from the league but that should go together with unlimited substitutions. (Well maybe limited substitutions within 1 game to prevent abuse of the system).

I agree with Pardon though that this league is about the strength of a clan so as long as people are in the clan at the start of the season it would be fine to change the lineup completely imo.
