We can guarantee no hijacks and and stability.

is this a challenge

Just a point I wanted to add: WarLight follows the general trend of a browser game, and that is to have an ever-decreasing number of clans(/guilds/groups/whatever name). This is because people's desire to grow is oftentimes bigger than the reward they get for sticking to a community. In WarLight, since sticking to a community only gives you an extra forum page to access, there's very little reason to stick. And for those with no goal to improve, they normally get bored a lot faster and "retires". The first case is common in growing strategy players, while the second case is common on more lax strat players and diploers. Both ways, people leave. And fast.

While in theory there is a steady influx of newcoming players, realistically speaking this influx is very ephemeral and many of the newcomers either retire quickly or stick to open games.

It's not your fault that the clan was messed up in a large amount of alts and people leaving over time, this is the natural decay every clan gets at some point if they are not the "top 5 or so" or have a very uncommon community feeling.

Kicking most people out was kinda rash, but by no means too bad. Don't blame yourself for getting tired of risk simulator.

Only reason the FCC failed was inactivity, I had to make a decision. Keep FCCers happy and work my but off, yet not be happy, or move on and let it be. The community as a whole was tight nit, and the alts caused 0 problems. As soon as I left, they knew something had to be done. Rash decisions and hurt feelings led to this. Best thing for you to do is what you want to do. Retire? Rebuild? Join a new clan? Doesn't matter, just do something that makes you happy.

Doesn't being tight nit require regular active communication?

Sorry to see FCC go by the wayside, especially if people like Penguin Unity were still actively invested in it. I wish each of you nothing but the best, both in game and beyond.

Aura Guardian you are alot like me I had clans in other games where the exact thing happened over and over. No matter where I went I'd fail as a leader and I would quit.

When I first tried this game I was intrigued by the fact that every game was fair and that you couldn't win a game by simply paying money like every other game.
I went to join a clam which was TLW at the time I joined it it was still having hijacks and corrupt players in it so I left and I was recommended to fcc which seemed like a very professional community that I wanted to earn my place in. Eventually the FCC became like a family to me where I could talk about things without someone screaming at me because they don't share my opinion. I really don't want the fcc to die which is why I'll keep fighting for it as long as I am able to even if I have to quit all my other online activities because I won't give it up.

I've been thinking of suicide for about 2 or 3 years now and planning to do it because of rl problems but one of the mayor things keeping me away from it was you guys...
This message is getting a little long here so I am going to just end it here.

Aura, don't take it so hard. Running a clan is hard work, and if it's burning you out you shouldn't feel like you have an obligation to continue doing it. I hope you are able to relax a bit and just enjoy the game. It would be a shame if you felt you couldn't play anymore after this.

A clan can't rely on the same 1 person to do everything within the clan. This level of effort + commitment is not viable for any long-term leader.

I would've collapsed if members of my clan didn't volunteer to manage internal clan events and helped wherever possible. Point being, Everyone should be encouraged to contribute in the clan in any way possible.. Big or small they all add up as significant contributions. Though in FCC case a self-designed council makes helping out of the blue a bit alienating to say the least.

Aura don't be hard on yourself man! From what I had heard from others you were doing a superb job, getting burnt out from this game (or others) is normal for everyone for nearly all games. Take the time and tend to your real life if you have/want to! It is really normal and people should understand that, noone should be expecting you to sacrifice so much from yourself for a game / even a community.

Trust me, taking time off warlight and coming back when you feel you want to rather than when you think you have to is much better. Again everyone who I had talked to about you and even when I talked to you you were very pleasant to talk to and you were doing a really good job so you did not fail anybody whatsoever!

Aura,
You did an awesome job leading FCC for a very long time.
Having a small amount of experience trying to build up EIC I know how hard and frustrating it can be.
I also know how frustrating it can be to have a leader suddenly quit on you (ahem, Conservative & Madmen). But at least you are here to explain for yourself and there are some good people left to rebuild FCC.

I wish you the best of luck in whatever you do. Take care of your health and do not beat yourself up over this anymore. Hopefully you just need some legitimate R&R

Hello guys,

I really do appreciate the goodwill of (most) of the community here. From these comments, I can come to a new understanding in my life. I was lost for many months, wandering aimlessly within my mind. But, however selfish it may seem, I really should just be trying to persue what I find enjoyable at the time, and nothing else.

That being said, it seems that I have made a few enemies, and I now hold stronger grudges. I am now more than ever, strongly against the use of alts. I feel they detract from communities and cause stronger communities to siphon off of the weak ones. In my time, I saw 101st/lynx progressively encroach on FCC members, and especially by the end of my tenure, many players were either flipping their alts/mains between clans, or just leaving FCC altogether in favor of 101st. I had have enough of it. Although I cannot say 101st effectively killed FCC, I would say it had a good part in accelerating its demise. The reason why 101st has been able to thrive so vibrantly in spite of this game in general being on the decline was because of the FCC. Now they will have to find somewhere else to find their players, because FCC likely won't ever be able to provide for them again, considering that the new focus of the clan will be solely community based (and hence not attracting those interested in strategically improving), and nothing else. Indeed, FCC became exactly what I was trying to avoid: A stepping stone, a "Pre" to another clan. We basically became 101st's weeder, and that wasn't what I intended.

Thus, I do hearby declare that I will be, for a very long time, perhaps forever, begrudged against 101st/lynx. Their part in FCC's demise isn't something I can easily forgive. I cannot say I will feel distaste towards individual players, however, just a general one toward that clan as a whole.

As for me retiring, I don't know yet. I have calmed down and will have to give it some good thought. Its obvious that the way I was playing this game was not enjoyable to me for a long time. I played it more as an obligation then out of sheer enjoyment. For the over 1 1/2 years as the effective leader of FCC, it has been this way. Perhaps I will just slink into the background of this game. Or perhaps I shall reappear somewhere else. As of yet, I still do not know. I could join another clan. I could leave clans altogether. Or I could leave warlight. Whatever it is, it will be guided by my own will, and no longer by my obligation.
